The Hazards of E.M.E.

I walk to school very fast every morning.

It takes about 30 minutes.
I call it “E.M.E”.

Thanks to this exercise, I have reduced
my weight.

The condition of my health and my footwork
has improved.

But the other day, something awful happened
in my bag.

That morning, I bought a sandwich and a bottle of
yoghurt in a convenience store during my speed walk.

I put them into my bag. After arriving at my school,
I opened my bag and touched my favorite book inside.

I felt something strange. I wondered, “Why is it wet?”
I took it out and I found it was covered with yoghurt.

The quick movements of speed walking damaged my bag
and ruptured the bottle of yoghurt.

As the result, a sea of yoghurt formed in my bag.
I named this situation "The Case of Yoghurt Bomb".

So I’d like to tell you to take care with bottles of
yoghurt, especially drinkable yoghurt.

明日は３回目の中英研役員会です。

平成２８年度の総会に向けて、１月から役員会を開き、
準備をしています。

備えあれば憂いなし。

会長としては、４年の期間で、２０１７年、２０２１年、
２０２５年の構想を描いて進めています。

私は２０１７年度をもって退職です。

函館市の子どもたちに一人でも多く、英語を好きになってほしい。
願いはそれだけです。

そのためには、寄りそう先生の役割が重要です。

読書好きな子どもにするには、親が読書する姿を見せるのが一番と
言われています。

私の朝読書の本は、"SOPHIE'S WORLD"です。
これを廊下で読んでいます。

休み時間は、この本の中の意味不明な約９００語を単語帳に書き、
子どもの様子を見ながら、暗記しています。

単語帳は３冊あり、このうちのどれかを手にとって暗記しています。
昨年１年かけて、およそ、６００語は覚えました。

『校長先生の単語の覚え方』として、校長室前に置いていた
こともあります。

単語は覚えてもすぐ忘れる。
だから、じっくりと時間をかけて覚える。

これは物事を覚えることの基本です。
若いうちはなかなかこうは行きません。

４月からは、文章そのものの暗記を楽しんでいます。

'What came first - the chicken or the "idea" chicken?'
This question was just as tricky as the old riddle
of the chicken and the egg.
There would be no chicken without the egg, and no egg
without the chicken.

いつの日か、この話題で会話できる時を期待して、
今日も暗記します。

階段で、こけないように注意しながら・・・。
石の上にも３０年とつぶやきながら・・・。

函館英語英文学会の役員会が終了

４月１６日（土）に函館英語英文学会の役員会が
開催されました。

『函館英文学』は、第５４号が刊行されました。
頁数は、１６８頁。

五十嵐二郎氏の『明治の国際人－浅田英次の英語教育論と現代－』は、
明治時代における素晴らしい人物について詳細に記述されています。

大変感銘を受けました。
また、仕事へのエネルギーも戴きました。

他にも、興味をそそられる内容が一杯です。
そろそろお手元に届くはずです。

ぜひ、ご覧になって下さい。

総会・研究発表会は、６月１１日（土）です。

お時間をつくって、足を運んでくださるよう
お願いします。

中部高校が英語教育で大臣賞！

従来のプリント主体の授業に、生徒が自分の考えなどを英語で述べる
「コミュニケーション型」の学習を取り入れ、成果を上げていること
が評価された。

函館中部高校では、６年ほど前、「生徒自身の考えを英語で発表でき
るような授業」を目指し、コミュニケーション主体の授業を導入した。

２０１３年度の高校新学習指導要領の実施に合わせ、カリキュラムを
変更した結果、生徒の９割り以上が「会話力向上した」と回答した。

財団法人英語教育協議会（ＥＬＥＣ）の「第１回ＥＬＥＣ英語教育賞」。
「文部科学大臣賞」は、最高賞です。

I’ve been teaching English for nineteen years at 3 different schools.

At my first school, I had challenged to motivate students who “hate”
studying, especially English. At my second school, I had organized lessons
for students with different types of learning backgrounds. And three years
ago, I was transferred to a high school centered on preparing students to
get into university and facing a new challenge.

I want to share those experiences with participants.


If you are attending the meeting, RSVP by e-mail by 22nd of April (Fri).


The concept of our meeting is invariably one that is made by and for the
participants. As such, we invite all of you to generously share your
ideas, for therein lies the secret to our success. Of course, each
fruitful meeting is followed by a party where all can eat, drink and talk
to their hearts content. So please come and join in. New faces are always
welcome, so why not bring a friend?
