昨日、私に以下のようなメールが来ました。

: Confirm Your Shipping Address

This is to inform you that your sealed box contained $6.5Million was brought
to our custody here in U.S. Embassy Cotonou, Benin by Courier Company Director
this morning for safe keeping and now waiting for your confirmation before
the final delivery will take place to your home town.
Please reconfirm your current address and direct contact phone number to avoid
ing wrongful delivery.
Kindly call me or send SMS @ +22996463001 after sending email response as soon
as you read this message so we can discuss the way forward.

ネットで調べ、送付されてきたメールをそのサイトに送りました。
すると、以下のような返信を戴きました。

to five working days.
そして、本日、以下のような忠告を戴きました。
Dear Mr. Katsuyoshi Adachi,
Thank you for your email. We hereby come to inform you that Mr. James A Nigh
t was the US Embassy of Cotonou Ambassador. He is no longer at Post. Please do
not send money or personal information to anyone claiming to be Mr. James A N
ight in Benin.
Fraud schemes are now prevalent throughout western Africa, including Benin, an
d pose dangers of financial loss. An increasing number of U.S. citizens have b
een targets of such scams, resulting in the loss of considerable money on thes
e scams, ranging from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollar
s.
Typically, these scam operations begin with an unsolicited communication, usua
lly by e-mail, from

If you believe you are the victim of an Internet scam:
* Do not send money. Unfortunately, any money that you might already h
ave sent will probably not be recoverable.
* End all communication with the scammer immediately, rather than atte
mpt resolution directly. If you feel threatened, contact your local police at
once. Do NOT attempt to personally recover the funds lost. Contact the appropr
iate authorities to resolve the matter.
* Report the matter immediately to The Internet Crime Complaint Center
, a partnership among the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National
White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BIA),
at www.ic3.gov<http://www.ic3.gov/>.
* If the scam originated through a particular website, notify the admi
nistrators of that website.

ています。
今日、このようなネット犯罪が広がっていることを新聞社には伝えます。
皆さまも、現住所や電話番号をこのようなメールに対して送付されないように
ご注意願います。
